Creative Ways to Get Your Steps In

imag8e3 So everyone knows I love my fitbit however I am afraid it might be on it’s last legs lol But I was looking for creative ways to get more steps in since I work an office job that requires alot of sitting at my desk! And I wanted to share some creative ways to help you get moving too so we can increase our steps! It is recommened that we get 10,000 steps in a day to help keep us healthy and on the track of losing weight but that can seem overwhelming so how do we keep it fun and still get our steps in!

  • Join challenges along with fitbit and other trackers most of them have fun challenges you can join to get badges and also help keep yourself motivated to keep going and get more steps in daily.
  • Get up a half hour earlier for work and take a stroll around your neighborhood.
  • Take a small stroll after dinner to help get those steps in and make you feel better.
  • Walk in place when you are brushing your teeth.
  • Walk in place while you wait on your coffee to brew in the morning.
  • Go window shopping at your local mall especially when it is cold this is a great way to get your steps in and look for new items especially with the holidays around the corner.
  • Take laps around your house while you are cooking especially if your food is simmering. My dog loves this she will chase me around the house lol
  • Join a local 5K these are great ways to keep you motivated and help you meet new friends.
  • park at the end of the parking lot when you are shopping this will just give you a few more steps.
  • Link your fitbit to the Walgreens app and earn points on your balance rewards for walking and using your fitbit.
  • walk on your lunch break this is something I have started because I am lucky enough to be able to eat my desk so I can now use my half hour lunch to get some steps in.
  • Keep your walking shoes in the car in case you want to stop at a park to get some extra steps in.
  • Take a hike on your days off.
  • Take your dog on a walk.
  • Walk in place while you are cleaning dishes.
  • Start the Couch to 5K this is something you can do from home.
  • mow the grass
  • Use an escalator instead of a elevator and walk in or take the stairs.
