Product Review: Kelloggs Special K Protein Shakes

88 As I have talked about in the last few weeks I am aiming for a High Protein diet as my dietician’s request so for each meal and snack I try to find a high protein and healthy alternative. Well mornings are always hard for me as I am not a morning person and I do not really like to cook. So at the grocery store this weekend I found a lot of protein shakes in the health and wellness section, and after doing some label reading I decided to try the Special K Protein Shakes.

There was a few reasons for my thinking, one is I have tried Slim Fast before and the one thing I really did not like about Slim Fast was for lack of a better term, the shakes had a chalky consistency. If you have never had a diet or weight loss shake before the protein powders can tend to make the shakes grainy or chalky tasting and consistency and that was my concern on the Special K Protein Shakes.

The shake I tried this morning was the Kellogg s Special K Chocolate Mocha Protein Shake, for two reasons I love chocolate and I love coffee and cappuccinos. My shake was kept in the refrigerator to keep it chilled, and per package instructions it was shaken up quite well to stir up the shake. Now the Special K Protein Shake I have to admit was not bad at all, yes it still has a very slight chalky taste and consistency but I fear most protein shakes will have this. But unlike the alternative Slim Fast, I was able to handle this shake much much better. The shake had a great chocolate taste, a slight coffee flavor, but the chocolate was the star flavor of this shake.

Now a lot of people like myself that will have to start to depend on a high protein lifestyle from now on, I love the convenience that grabbing a premixed shake and going out the door offers. No longer do you have to slave over the stove preparing your high protein breakfast foods, you can simply run to the refrigerator and grab a Special K Protein Shake and be on your way with your day. This will defiantly appeal to people like myself whom are getting ready to go through weight loss surgery or just those looking to incorporate a high protein lifestyle. Now below we will talk about the varieties offered and calories and vitamin information.

Kelloggs Special K Protein Shake Flavor Options:

  • Vanilla Cappuccino
  • Chocolate Mocha
  • Milk Chocolate
  • Strawberry
  • Strawberry Banana
  • French Vanilla

Nutritional Facts:

Ok one bottle of Special K Protein Shakes will consists of 10 grams of protein which is great, because as we have discussed before eating a diet high in protein will help you to feel full for longer. Total calories from your shake is 190 calories which is not bad when you consider this is a meal replacement and not a snack, and I paired mine with a fruit this morning. Total fat is 5 grams or 8%, Saturated fat is 3%, Sodium is 9%, Total Carbohydrates is 30 grams or 10%. Some vitamins aspects is you do get 100% of Vitamin E & C.

Conclusion:

So Kellogg s Special K Protein Shakes will cost you about $5.50 for a four pack which comes to $1.38 for breakfast which is a lot cheaper than running through McDonald’s drive thru. The convenience of running to your refrigerator on the way to work in the morning is another great aspect of these protein shakes. So while eating healthy protein is so important, if you don’t have time to cook, these shakes are a great alternative.
